Baby’s Day Out

Michelle was off to an office summer outing at Montemar, Bataan. Family members were invited but I figured Jeanne would have more fun at Megan’s Jollibee Birthday party so I decided to stay behind along with Jeanne. In addition, Auntie Tita invited us for lunch to celebrate Christian’s birthday. James piped in that it’s going to be a joint celebration. Looked like it was gonna be a full day!

Almost as early as Michelle got up, prepared, and left for Montemar, I also got up and prepared. I knew it was going to be a hectic day, so I showered and prepared my baby bag (a re-purposed Crumpler camera bag) while Jeanne was still asleep. She woke up soon after. I entertained her with toys and books while I prepared breakfast of baked potato with butter and a sprinkling of salt. Yummy! Jeanne thought so too and ate almost all the half I gave her. Then I gave her a bath and dressed her up for going out.

We left around early at around 10 to pick up Elwyna at the MRT station. Jeanne had already learned to behave while in the car seat, so I had no problems. We were refueling at a nearby Shell station when Elwyna arrived. Jeanne got startled and started crying when Elwyna suddenly knocked on the window. She wanted to go to me. Good thing I was able to distract her by giving her a prize trinket from the Shell.

We proceeded to Auntie Tita’s where she wouldn’t let go of me. We thought it’s because we left her there every day for a week while Michelle’s mom was recovering from vertigo. She recognized the house and she most likely thought she’ll be left again. Fortunately, we we’re soon joined by Christian and his kids Joanna and Kristel. Jeanne took to Kristel and soon she detached herself from me and they were playing.

After a long lunch, we went to Megan’s Jollibee Birthday Party. She had fun initially: dancing around and taking a liking to Megan’s grandmother. Unfortunately, the party was during her normal nap time and soon she got tired and slept through the highlight of Jollibee parties: Jollibee’s appearance. She was so sound asleep that I wasn’t even able to line up for the giveaways. Good thing Sudi and India got one for us. Thanks Sudi and India!

After the party, we wen’t back to Auntie Tita’s where we found James who had arrived while we were at Jollibee. Christian, Joanna, and Kristel had gone to the mall while Elwyna was walking Taki. But soon after, everyone started coming back, Jeanne started playing with Kristel again. This went on through dinner. They were still at it, drawing on paper, when we had to go home as it was getting late.

So we drove home and I prepared her for bed: change nappy, shirt, and towel wipe down. She wanted milk so I prepared a bottle which she drank in record time. I asked her if she wanted another and she nodded. So I prepared another bottle, but she apparently had changed her mind and didn’t want it anymore. Instead, she picked up the iPhone and started playing with it. I was tired so I just lay there.

We must have dozed off after a few minutes because the next thing I knew it was around 10:30, the phone was ringing and Michelle was knocking at the door. There was a slight bustle as Michelle prepared for bed but everyone was tired and we all slept soon after.
